Rangi and Papa were deeply in love they were so close that there was no light. Their children got angry that they had no room to run around in. The gods agreed with them however they couldn't separate them with all their might. Eventually Tanemahuta separated them with his very strong legs. All the children stretched their legs however Tawhirimatea was not happy about this. Overtime mother earth's back and legs made the valleys and sea's. The parents still send their love by the morning mist and rain tears.
